Ezra and Sabine occupy a weird spot in Rebels where they're portrayed as being close in a distinctly different way than they are with Zeb, but also not willing to settle on what type of close.
It's like the show didn't know if it wanted them to be incredibly close friends or somewhere around dating. It danced around both, and didn't commit to either.
